Handball: Sävehof roared – but eliminated from the European League against Gottfridsson’s Flensburg

After 41-30 in the first meeting in Sweden between the teams, it was an almost impossible task that awaited Sävehof. But the team still gave it a real try.

After 52 minutes of play, Oli Mittun made it 19-15 to the guests. The match swung back and forth, but Sävehof managed to hold off and defeat Jim Gottfridsson’s Flensburg in Germany 29-28.

Alexander Westby scored five goals in the match and Sävehof received great goalkeeping from both Simon Möller and Oscar Sävinger.

– It’s a fantastic half from us. We are a bunch of friends from Partille who have all grown up with each other and going out in such a big arena is probably the biggest thing we have been part of, says Sävinger to SVT Sport.

But overall, the German team is still further in the European League and advances to the semi-finals. Sävehof’s European adventure is over for this time.
