Handball: Norwegian big club Kristiansand Vipers is closed down

Swedish stars Jamina Roberts, Nina Koppang and Carin Strömberg play in the club.

– It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that the board of Vipers has decided to wind down the business. The board made the decision after thorough evaluations of the club’s financial situation, says Jörgen Uleber in a press release.

Kristiansand Vipers won the Norwegian league six years in a row from 2018-2023 and won three Champions League titles from 2021-2023.

At the same time, the club has struggled with financial problems.

In October 2024, the club filed for bankruptcy but was saved the next day.

– Now we actually have to believe that it’s over. The income has not been close to the expenses. They have invested in success and won the Champions League three years in a row. In women’s handball, however, it has not yielded any major income, says an analysis on NRK.
