In the final minute, the gold hats went ahead and it became a big celebration with dance and hugs on the pitch. At the stand in Halmstad Arena, Ystad had a powerful companion and the club icon Per Carlén, 64, enjoyed the moment. Oscar’s son is the head coach of the team.
-We have won some at the end with the first SM gold in 30 years and the first cup gold. Still, there is something special to stand here again. Winning the first time is one thing but defending gold is something extremely awesome where we as a leader and I as coach work for mantra to be successful over time, says Carlén to SVT Sport.
From cup gold to the Danish league
Goalkeeper Erik Hvenfelt made important rescues when needed.
– It was the best end result we could have received and what we wanted. We came to Halmstad with the goal of winning the gold and two matches and we manage to do that even if it is a bit awkward in some parts of the match, says Hvenfelt.
He will leave Ystads IF for the next season.
– There have been seven fantastic seasons, but now it’s time to try a new league and meet new players, says Hvenfelt, who will play for Danish North Sealand.
There were muted faces with players and leaders in Önnered.
– We had hoped to win and make a better match but lose it in the first half where we were depressed, says Önnered coach Kristian Berndtsson.
