For a long time, the police did not say more than that the object found was a “suspected dangerous object”. But at 18:00 in the evening it was announced that it was a hand grenade, and that the national bomb protection has now neutralized it.
When the grenade was found, the site was cordoned off, and the National Bomb Squad was called in to investigate. Residents in the area were not allowed to leave their homes.
The cordons will now be reduced, the police announce, but a small cordon will remain, so police technicians can carry out an investigation and crime detection dogs will search for traces.
A preliminary investigation into attempted public destruction and gross violation of the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods has been launched.
