At the Rosa-Parks high school in Montgeron, Essonne, several students were involved in a brawl which left two injured. One of the students was armed with a hammer.
“The images of the attack on a student with a hammer by one of his classmates in the courtyard of a high school in Essonne are unacceptable,” denounced Anne Genetet, Minister of Education, on his account Saturday September 28. The new member of the executive returned to the hammer attack which took place on Friday at the Montgeron high school, in Essonne.
The events took place around 10:35 a.m. during recess, at Rosa-Parks high school, according to The Parisian. Videos filmed from a classroom and the course and posted on social networks show a student holding down a classmate, while a high school student hits him several times with a hammer. A violent attack, which ended when another teenager intervened and pushed the armed person away. According to the local news site News Essonneanother student hit a classmate in the back with a crutch.
“No one should attack the School”
Two people were slightly injured. They were taken care of by the high school nurses, declared the management of the establishment in an internal message, consulted by The Parisian. The parents of the victims were also alerted.
“Human reinforcements from the police and National Education were deployed on site” on Friday and were present on Saturday “to ensure security in the enclosure and on the way to the high school,” said Anne Genetet. The police will be “even more” present around the high school “in the coming days”, the department’s prefect, Frédérique Camilleri, said on Friday.
An investigation was opened by the prefecture. “No one should attack the School, its teachers, its staff or its students. I will not let anything go,” thundered the minister.
