The Swedish club Hammarby IF, represented by Anna Tamminen and Eva Nyström, experienced a crushing defeat in the 2nd round of the Champions League group stage.
Keeper Anna Tamminen and topper by Eva Nyström represented by the Swedish club Hammarby IF lost in the Women’s Champions League away to Barcelona by no less than 0-9 late on Wednesday.
The Finnish duo played full minutes. The match got off to a difficult start when Hammarby IF’s Finnish top scorer Nyström collided with goalkeeper Tamminen while chasing the ball, and Barcelona’s Norwegian striker Caroline Graham Hansen was able to easily finish the home team’s 1–0 lead in the 10th minute.
Barcelona, who had lost to Manchester City in the opening of Group D 0-2, were in a class of their own against Hammarby and took the attempts to score 33-7, the shots on goal 17-1 and the corner kicks 6-0. Barcelona introduced seven different goalscorers, Hansen and Claudia Pina scored two goals against a woman.
Hammarby had won the opening match of the Champions League group stage against the Austrian team St. Pölten 2–0.
