Vallikenttä in Hamina is the only Superpesis field that does not have a covered stand at all next season.
The men’s team of Hamina’s Ballers will play next season at the highest league level in baseball, Superpesis. HP’s women’s team was relegated to Ykköspesis at the end of last season.
The Päsäpalliitto has defined that the home field of the team playing in the men’s Superpesis must have 1,500 covered stands.
Hamina must have a grandstand in accordance with the regulations for the 2027 season. In two years, you will not be able to play in the men’s Superpesis if the conditions are not in order.
Support from the city is less than one million euros
Hamina is currently considering how to finance the renovation of the Vallikentä stadium. The cost estimate for the renovation is 2.6 million euros.
A total of 800,000 euros was entered in the recent budget of the city of Hamina for the grandstand renovation. The money has been marked for use in 2026 and 2027.
The city expects Hamina’s Palloilijat to make a realistic and comprehensive business plan and model for the implementation of the grandstand project.
Chairman of Hamina’s Ballers Rami Orola says that the conversation with the city is being held in a good spirit.
– HP’s point of view is that the city should finance the constructions that meet the requirements of the Päsäpalloliitto conditions, says Orola.
The city of Hamina’s final investment decision and payment for the grandstand renovation will be made next year based on the business plan.
