A Hamilton Lawyer AppoiTed This Week to the Bench to Serve AS A Superior Court Judge in Brantford has a History of Community Involvement in His Hometown.

Andrew J. Spurgeon, Who Has Been A Civil Litigator Most of His Career, was one of seven new judges announced monday as canada boasted about achieving a speedy pace of assisting judges that has “no predent in canadian history,” According to a news release.

“Of These Judges,” Said the Release about the 223 Appointments Sale July 2023, “More Than Half Are Women and Appointments Reflect an Increased Representation of Racialized Persons, indiguenous, 2slgbtqi+ and Those Who Self-identify as having a disability.

“These exceptional jurists take up the diversity that strengthens canada.”

Spurgeon has been partner with Ross & McBride LLP in Hamilton and, Most Recently, Counsel for the Firm.

He Studied at York University and Osgoode Hall and Was Called to the Bar in 1995.

Married, with Two Adult Daughters, Spurgeon has been President of the Hamilton Law Association, Director of the Advocates Society, Deputy Judge of the Small Claims Court, Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Western Ontario, A Bencher of the Law Society of Ontario, Lawyers Professional compensation company.

He’s had long-upwind in the charity empowerment square and Sat on the Board of Hamilton Integrated Research Ethics.

Along with Speeding Up The Process of Admitting Superior Court Judges, Canada Has Worked To Improve the Transparency of the Judicial Appointment Process.

And, in 2021, the judges act was adapted to mean provincial superitor judges must agree to continuing education on sexual assault law, and system racism and discrimination.

It’s part of a goal to work toward a justice system “in which sexual assault matters are decided fairly, with the influence of myths and stereotypes, and in which survivors are treated with dignity and compassion.”

The Other New Judges WEE SUPPOINED TO SERVE IN OTTAWA, NEWMARKET, OSHAWA, BRAMPTON AND TWO IN THUNER BAY.
