The terrorist organization Hamas has responded to Israel’s demands for a cease-fire in Gaza – with a new proposal.
The proposal means, among other things, that Israeli hostages would be released in exchange for the freedom of Palestinian prisoners – even those serving life sentences.
Hamas suggests that the first release of Israelis would include women, children, the elderly and the sick. That in exchange for between 700 and 1,000 Palestinian prisoners being released, Reuters reports.
“Unrealistic demands”
After the initial exchange, Hamas suggests that a date for a permanent ceasefire could be agreed upon.
In the second stage, all prisoners on both sides would be released, according to the proposal.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s spokesmen say that Hamas’ proposal is based on “unrealistic demands”.
