The Palestinian extremist organization Hamas has launched a large-scale attack on Israeli territory.
According to Hamas, more than 5,000 rockets have been fired from Gaza into Israel. In addition, Palestinian militants have invaded Israeli territory and there have been gunfights in some places.
More than 20 Israelis are said to have been killed and more than 500 injured.
According to unconfirmed information, up to dozens of Israelis are being held hostage either in Gaza or in Israeli territory.
Israel has carried out airstrikes on Gaza, among other things. According to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the country is at war and Hamas will have to pay an unprecedented price.
Hamas has announced that it has decided to put an end to the “occupier’s crimes” and has therefore started an operation called the flood of al-Aqsa. For example, the EU has classified Hamas as a terrorist organization.
