Hamas leaders and senior figures from the Houthi movement in Yemen have met to discuss the “next stage” of the war in Gaza, Palestinian sources told AFP.
The two Iran-backed groups discussed “mechanisms to coordinate their resistance actions,” according to anonymous sources from the terrorist groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Also militants of the People’s Front for the Liberation of Palestine must have participated in the meeting, according to the sources, who did not state where the meeting took place.
On the agenda was a possible Israeli ground offensive against Rafah in southern Gaza. In addition, the Houthi movement has promised to continue its attacks on civilian shipping in order to “support the Palestinian resistance”, the sources state.
Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Huthi said on Thursday that the movement would increase its attacks and also target merchant ships that pass through the Indian Ocean to avoid the Red Sea.
