One of the hardest working names after the earthquake disaster Haluk Leventrebelled against the operators who could not solve the communication problems in the earthquake area.
One of the names that work hard and collect aid to heal the wounds in the earthquake area through the Friends Association. Haluk Levent, He rebelled against his communication problems on Twitter. Levent before this “We haven’t been able to reach anyone for an hour. Phones are crippled again I hope this tweet goes away. It is now 18.17” said. The last statement of the famous name was as follows: “Phone operators! This is Day 3. We’ve collected so many donations, tell me the price and we’ll send it right away! What is this! Strengthen all sides of Hatay now! The efficiency of our work is reduced by 60 percent. I don’t understand technology or insufficient science!” The problems started at the very first stage. In this respect TR Communication Department, “All GSM operators have increased their capacity so that the people of the region do not suffer due to the earthquake in Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş. It will open the closed phone lines and provide internet service. It is announced to all our citizens” made the statement.
If later “All GSM operators have opened their phone lines, which were closed by increasing the capacity. It is announced to all our citizens.” it was said. When the normal lines were broken, people asked for help from Twitter for their relatives, one of these calls for help. It even went to Elon Musk. Yale University faculty member Mehmet Emin Adin tagged Elon Musk on Twitter, “Turkey and its neighboring countries were hit by a great earthquake. There are serious communication gaps. Any chance to help with your Starlink satellites?” Wrote. Musk shared, “Starlink has not yet been approved by the Turkish government. We can send as soon as confirmed” he replied. Official approval was not given on this issue, it was announced that it was not necessary.

So what do the operators say about this? The latest statement by Turkcell on this issue was as follows: “We are working nonstop with our teams from all over Turkey and surrounding cities in order to maintain uninterrupted communication needs in the earthquake area. With this intense work; We again provided service to our 900 sites, which were disconnected during the earthquake in the region. By mobilizing all our resources, we sent a large number of mobile base stations and generators in different locations to our provinces in the earthquake zone.
In addition, we directed our teams from many provinces of Turkey to the region in order to support our personnel working in the region and experiencing losses. In this context, we continue our efforts to ensure the continuity of communication by sending 2000 batteries, 1400 generators, and over 100 mobile base stations to the provinces where disasters occurred, as well as 430 field response personnel and regional employees. As Turkcell, we will continue to mobilize all the means at our disposal.”
Yesterday, the Mobile Telecommunications Operators Association issued a joint statement:
“Damage in energy lines and base stations due to earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş-centered and affecting 10 provinces, which deeply saddens our country, affects communication processes. The energy required for communication is provided by generators, within the scope of security measures and due to the fact that the distribution companies cannot supply electricity to the region due to damage to the energy lines. Our member operators Turkcell, Türk Telekom and Vodafone carry out field work in the earthquake zone in coordination with all their teams, AFAD and relevant ministries in order to maintain communication. While repair work on energy transmission continues, communication is maintained with mobile base stations dispatched to the region.
The repair of base stations affected and damaged by the earthquake continues. With the measures and actions taken in all provinces affected by the earthquake, communication is maintained over fixed and mobile infrastructures in the region. In addition, voice/data packages are defined for all users, debt lines are reopened, all Wi-Fi internet points and payphones can be used free of charge, and portable charger (powerbank) support is also available. Our operators actively participate in the aid coordination process in the region with all their teams. We would like to underline the following important points in order to maintain healthy communication in the earthquake area:
-To avoid high traffic, phones should only be used for emergency calls.
-Communications should be made via short message service (SMS) and internet-based messaging software.”
