In a feature in SVT 2021, the municipality’s climate adaptation strategist Hanna Billmayer assured that Getinge residents could feel safe after all the municipality’s efforts in the wake of the floods in 2014. But there is still great concern when the torrential rains come.
Getinge residents are still critical, according to the town’s community association, the municipality is not fulfilling its mission to keep the flow free in Suseån and to cooperate with all the actors involved.
In the clip, the municipality’s community development director and climate adaptation strategist respond to the criticism.
Future plans must be investigated further
The association also believes that the master plans do not take future downpours into account.
– At the moment, in Future Plan 2050, we have assessed that this is possible, but then it must be investigated further, says Hanna Billmayer, climate adaptation strategist at Halmstad Municipality.
