As evidence, the prosecutor has, among other things, shown film sequences from two different races. They show how the driver uses the driving rod against the horses’ buttocks. In addition, there are testimonies from veterinarians who point to both residual swelling and mental strain on the horses.
Denies crime
The trotting trainer denies that he had caused suffering to any of the horses. During the races, he says that he has pushed the horses with the rod, but that it should not have been able to cause the injuries that appeared after the races.
The crimes must have taken place on two occasions, one in 2020 and the other in 2021. The trotting coach is sentenced in Gothenburg District Court to a daily fine.
