US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in an interview with CNN on Sunday that Ukraine has taken back about half of the territory Russia initially occupied during the war.
– Now they are fighting a very hard battle to take back more. It is still relatively early into the counteroffensive. It is tough. The Russians have deployed strong defenses, says Blinken in the interview.
The US Secretary of State adds that the counter-offensive “will not be over in a week or two”.
– We still count on several months, I think, says Blinken to the TV channel.
