Half of Iranian robots against Israel failed

Iran fired between 115 and 130 ballistic missiles at Israel in Saturday’s attack, according to US officials, the Wall Street Journal reports. But only half were fired successfully. The rest failed at launch or during the journey, according to information given to the newspaper.

Almost all of the remaining ballistic missiles and drones that Iran fired at Israel in Saturday’s attack were shot down by Israeli and American defenses.

In the city of Shiraz in southern Iran, there have been reports of injuries after drones crash-landed near a residential area. Images on social media show extensive damage to a burning house. However, TV4 News has not been able to confirm or verify the images. There is currently no information on personal injuries.

Israel’s military said on Sunday that “99%” of the projectiles were intercepted, and that only “a small number” of ballistic missiles reached Israel.

“Very little damage was caused,” Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said in a statement early Sunday, praising his own forces and the country’s U.S. and other international partners for “impressively countering this attack.”

“A failure”

Iran’s large-scale attack described as a “complete failure”. This is what Gerhard Conrad, former top agent in the German security service, BND, told Focus, among others.

– The only thing Iran can boast of is having directly attacked Israel for the first time and forced the country and its allies to be on high alert for 48 hours, says Conrad to the newspaper.

Rather, the attack shows that Western intelligence and Israeli air defense work well, he notes.

In total, around 170 drones, more than 30 cruise missiles and more than 120 ballistic missiles were fired at Israel overnight Saturday, according to the Israeli military.

US officials said more than 70 drones and three ballistic missiles were intercepted by US Navy ships and military aircraft.
