Do you ever walk around your house naked? According to a study analyzing behavior between neighbors, quite a few French people adopt this practice. Discover the surprising behavior in your neighborhood!

Unless you live alone on a desert island, you inevitably have neighbors… whether they are more or less close. On the occasion of the 25th edition of Neighbors’ Day, this Friday, May 31, the Depanneo.com site and the agency dedicated to statistics FLASHS wanted to better understand the relationships that the French maintain with their neighbors in 2024. relationships that can be very friendly, loving… or not very cordial.

For this survey, 7,600 French men and women were questioned. Between those who like to walk around naked even if it means being seen or those who establish strategies not to say hello to their neighbors… the results are for some rather amusing!

Nudity at home, a concept appreciated by the French

Walking around naked at home seems to be a real pleasure for many French people. In fact, nearly 48% of them grant themselves this freedom, more permitted among men (54%) than among women (43%). Among those who enjoy this pleasure, the survey reveals that 37% would take care not to be seen by their neighbors, but that the remaining 11% would not take this precaution.

However, although this can be pleasant, there are still important rules to remember. Indeed, nudity is prohibited in France, as long as you are visible from the public highway or from your neighbors’ homes. According to article 222-32 of the Penal Code, in the event of non-compliance with this rule, you risk being punished with one year’s imprisonment and a fine of €15,000… You you will have understood, if you absolutely want to strut around naked at home, it is better to install curtains!

Good in his body, good in his head!

Some admit to implementing avoidance strategies…

Another rather funny observation: some French people admit to putting in place stratagems to avoid crossing paths with their neighbors. If 80% say they have never implemented this type of technique, the rest admit to having already done so…

But what techniques do they use? On this, the French can be creative! Thus, 10% of them choose the option of waiting behind the front door until the neighbor leaves, then going out in turn. 6% pretend to be on the phone, and 6% also lower their heads to pretend not to have seen their neighbor. Finally, 3% of them cite an urgent obligation.

Moreover, this desire to avoid one’s neighbors is observed more among the youngest. In fact, 35% of young people would be affected, compared to only 7% of those over 65.

We reassure you, despite these techniques (that is, quite amusing), 93% of the French admit to having good relations with their neighbors. A more than positive result!
