Jihadists and forces backed by Turkey have jointly seized half of Aleppo, Syria’s second largest city, in the north.
This is stated by the UK-based conflict monitor the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). The advance against Syrian government forces, backed by Iran and Russia, has been rapid.
The offensive began on Wednesday, at the same time as the ceasefire in neighboring Lebanon began, between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah.
