Håkan Loob and Jonas Andersson’s criticism of Brendan Shinnimin

Brendan Shinnimin has aroused strong feelings in hockey Sweden.
Now SVT experts Håkan Loob and Jonas Andersson give their honest opinions.
– Honestly, I’m tired of Shinnimin now. It’s pathetic, says Andersson i Hockey night.

He has really made a name for himself for being a real badass on the ice. Brendan Shinnimin is truly a watershed in Swedish hockey for his teasing style of play.

Shinnimin is upset

In this week’s SHL match when Luleå met Skellefteå AIK, the Canadian ended up in the hot air again. Shinnimin dealt a slewfoot on Oskar Nilsson and was punished with a two-game suspension as well as a 22,000 fine for the offence.

Now the SVT experts give Håkan Loob and Jonas Andersson his brutally honest opinions about pranks and pranks.
– You know the SHL is up and running again when Shinnimin is on the move. Honestly, I’m tired of Shinnimin now. He is a good hockey player, when he focuses on playing hockey. But when he does stuff like this, it’s dangerous. There is a high risk of injury. He gets into the game time and time again and as soon as the other wants to play a little – then he films, throws himself and feels sorry for himself, says Andersson in “Hockeykväll”.
– When Shinnimin acts like this, I just think he’s pathetic. I can’t understand that Luleå as an organization doesn’t mark harder against this, because it benefits neither him nor Luleå.

Loob’s honest words

But Loob does not at all agree with his colleague’s harsh words.
– I think Shinnimin is a breath of fresh air actually. You can have a lot of opinions and there has been over the years, but somehow there is a bit of nerve in it. I think it should be a little more like this, the SHL must not become a well-respected series where no one is allowed to do anything, says the legend in the TV show.
– I actually don’t think this was that dangerous, to be honest. I understand that Jonas does not agree.

Jonas Andersson refuses to give in to his criticism.
– But he doesn’t stand up for anything. It would have been one thing if he had held on and then actually stood up. But he doesn’t do that, but as soon as it burns a little then he’s the furthest away. I have no respect for that, says the SVT expert.
– There must be some emotion, it must not be that someone stands with a stylus all the time. We have to have some nerve and some traction under the galoshes, Loob replies.

Brendan Shinnimin has also responded and tried to explain his actions.
“As much as people want to think I tried to hurt him, it’s just not true. His leg rises before my leg even touches his. I respect Oskar a lot and the way he competes. I had no intention of putting him in a vulnerable situation,” he writes on X.
