(Finance) – HaierChinese giant active in the large appliance market, has signed a Agreement with the trade union representatives relating to the project to conversion of the Brugherio production site. The agreement follows the meeting of 20 January last, during which the company presented the trade unions the business transformation plan at European level and communicated to them the need to cease the production of washing machines in the plant at June 30th.
The project, which will be structured in several phases starting from 1 Julywill have the aim of transforming the Brugherio plant into Haier Europe service, the strategic center dedicated to spare parts, which will serve the European markets in which the company operates. In particular, the project provides for the consolidation of logistical activities in Brugherio, including reception, storage, packaging and shipping.
To support this transformation, Haier Europe has provided for a investment Between 6 and 9 million euros, we read in a note from the group that controls the Candy, Hoover and Haier brands.
With the conversion plan of the Brugherio website and the start of the activities of the Service Hub, the company counts for occupy about 110 people of the 160 employees currently employed on the production site. Incentives for the exodus, access to pension regimes, redevelopment courses and projects dedicated to external relocation are provided.
In addition to the service hub, Brugherio will continue to host the European directional center (HQ) – together with the offices of Vimercate – Milan Experience Design Center, and research and development workshops dedicated to connectivity and the Internet of Things, to support all product lines, for a total of about 900 people. In addition to Brianza, Haier will continue to be present in Italy on the sites of Trevisospecialized in the HVAC business (air conditioning), and of Bassano del Grappafor the production of ovens and products for the Elba brand cooking.
