Frida Karlsson was shocked by the first prize this weekend.
But in fact the Swede was completely fooled.
– Haha, I heard that later, she admits in a television interview.
It was the very last big ski duel for this season. When the Swedish national team stars Frida Karlsson and Ebba Andersson settled at home in Sollefteå over the weekend.
Frida against Ebba
It was a star-studded duel during the Smart Energy Cup and for the first time ever, Frida and Ebba were pitted against each other in their old hometown. Andersson won Friday’s distance race, but Karlsson would take revenge in the subsequent sprint final.

Everything then ended with a chase start on Sunday and then it was once again Frida Karlsson who was the fastest across the finish line and took a very nice prestigious victory for Ebba Andersson.
– Uh, but it’s fun. Really! It was still important to win this. It felt like it was a fight and both wanted to show here on home ground, says Frida in the victory interview after the race and then had to sum up the entire ski season.
– Very, very funny! There has been good pressure on the audience, many Sollefteå residents here who watch and are officials, the whole heart of Sollefteå has helped with the competitions. This was the last race of the season, so it was nice.
Karlsson cheated
Alongside the star duel on the ski tracks, the very different winning prices in Sollefteå have also become the talk of the town. On the first day, marzipan cakes were handed out to the trio on the podium and the following day, Frida Karlsson was shocked when she had to receive surströmming(!).

The Swedish national team then announced that she will leave the award in Sollefteå when she returns home to Östersund. But it was later revealed that Karlsson had in fact been completely deceived.
– Haha, I was told later that it was only the packaging that was sour – because there was candy in it. So it’s easy to deceive, just so that adults will take that jar and get the candy, she says with a laugh on a TV -interview.
