Hagersville youth charged with first degree murder in Six Nations death

Six Nations Police and the Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a homicide on Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation.

Police and paramedics were called to a Mississauga Road residence just after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3. Upon arrival a deceased person was found, and a suspect was taken into custody.

Through investigation, police have charged a 17-year-old Hagersville resident with first degree murder.

The accused cannot be named under provisions of the Young Offenders Act. Police say the victim’s identity will not be released to prevent identification of the accused.

Residents in the area will notice an increased police presence as the investigation continues, but police say there is no further risk to the public.
