Had to sit next to farting dog – demanded compensation

It was in June that the couple Gill and Warren Press from New Zealand were to travel from Paris to Singapore with Singapore Airlines. The flight, which was supposed to take 13 hours, became a squeeze for the couple when they ended up next to a passenger who was carrying a smelly and drooling dog.

– My husband was sitting in shorts, and the dog was drooling on his leg, Gill Press previously told Stuff.

On board the plane, the owner of the dog reportedly told another passenger that he was so nervous about the flight that the dog had to be next to him on board the plane.

– I expect to see a baby or a small child on a flight, but not a dog, says Gill Press to Insider.

The dog started farting

The couple, who paid extra for more legroom in economy class, raised the issue with a flight attendant who said the only seats available were at the back of economy class. The couple chose to remain in their seats until dinner was served, but halfway into the flight the dog began to fart. Then it became unbearable for the couple who then moved to the other places. Something that has now caused the couple to demand compensation from the airline.

– We did not get the experience we paid for, says Gill Press.

The airline prohibits dogs in the cabin

Now, a couple of months after the flight, Singapore Airlines has agreed to compensate the couple with the equivalent of SEK 15,700 while apologizing to the couple. The couple has now chosen to donate the compensation to an organization that helps New Zealanders with guide dogs.

– It was never fundamentally about the money, says Gill Press.

After the incident, the airline will now ban dogs in the cabin.
