BK Häcken’s victory saga continues.
On Maundy Thursday, the team from Hisingen followed up last year’s SM gold by winning the cup title in superior style.
The victory figures were finally written at 4-1 – which means that the club has now taken home the cup on three occasions.
For the first time, Mjällby would play in the final of the Swedish Cup – and also had a chance to take home the association’s first title. In addition to the cup title, there was also a chance to secure a place in Europe.
Hecken started briskly and created a danger early by putting a ball behind the backline. But Noel Törnqvist acted quickly and prevented a goal. Moments later, Tom Pettersson was tackled in the offensive penalty area by an onrushing Peter Abrahamsson, but the referee decided to clear.
At the end of the second half, Mikkel Rygaard hit a perfect free kick to a free Ibrahim Sadiq who headed in 1-0 to Häcken.
Sadiq became a two-goal scorer
Just a couple of minutes later, the Gothenburg team made it 0-2. Häcken won the ball in the offensive half of the field after carelessness from the home team, after which Lars Olden Larsen played the ball to Ibrahim Sadiq, who became a two-goal scorer.
The second half barely had time to start before Häcken scored another goal. Mikkel Rygaard took care of a play-in and easily put the ball into the net from close range.
In the 66th minute it was Samuel Gustafsson’s turn to score when he pushed in 0-4.
Häcken’s cup gold means that Kalmar FF gets to try their luck on the continent and qualify for the Conference League.
In the 85th minute, Mjällby got a consolation goal when they took advantage of Häcken’s carelessness and scored 1-4.
Stormed the plane – police injured
However, the cup final left a bitter aftertaste when riots broke out after away supporters stormed the pitch.
– There are catastrophic images that we see with Häcken supporters inciting Mjällby supporters, said SVT’s expert Daniel Nannskog.
About thirty guards and policemen intervened and after a few minutes the situation calmed down. One police officer was slightly injured.
