The Real Madrid exporter Iker Casillas has recognized that the Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappé “loves” him as a player, but that talking about his possible signing for the Madrid club “is not going to solve anything” regarding the round of 16 second leg of the League of Champions between the Madrid team and the Paris team next Wednesday.
“Talking about the illusion of players who may or may not come, if you catch me with 22 I would say yes, emphatically, but now with 40 I tell you that it will not solve anything. In fact, Mbappé is with his team, he will seek his interests for his team and I don’t know where he will be tomorrow. Of course, as a player I love it, I wish I was at Real Madrid, I would enjoy it much more, but it doesn’t depend on me, it depends on other things that have to happen”Casillas has opined when asked in an act this Monday.
For the former international goalkeeper, both Mbappé and the Norwegian Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund) are “great players”, but “Right now they are not going to solve the season” for Real Madrid.
“Real Madrid’s season goes through staying firm in the national championship, which seems to be being achieved even though it hasn’t been achieved yet, and it goes through a ‘Champions’ in which, after everything that has happened this time, they want to achieve pass against a very strong team, one of the strongest”, he analysed.
“Haaland or Mbappé are not at Real Madrid right now, so right now they are not going to solve anything for you. You have to wait and enjoy with those who are there, who have earned the right for all Madridistas to enjoy their conquests”has added Casillas.
For the exporter, the French team has “in theory more possibilities because it goes 1-0, but then everything changes”, although he has wished the white team luck.
“Let’s hope and hope that Real Madrid goes to the next phase (…) That the players on this field make the Bernabéu enjoy and that we live a magical night of those from a long time ago that due to the pandemic they have not been able to live”added Casillas.
Agreement with Sportboost
The international exporter presented this Monday an agreement between his accelerator for sports technology companies ‘Sportboost’ and the startup support company Wayra de Telefónica, with which they have launched a call for technology companies applied to sport, which has a deadline of April 20, whose winners may receive an investment of up to 700,000 euros.
“The idea is to support people who want to contribute, help, do something for the common good and make life easier for the rest, dedicated to sport, for us it was something new and that comes from everything that exists right now. Startups are aimed at something more global, but the sport was more forgotten” has opined Casillas.
The former player presented this initiative together with the head of Telefónica’s digital area, Chema Alonso, who recalled that both are from the same municipality, Móstoles, south of Madrid, and that for Telefónica the sports field is “very relevant”.
“Sport is fundamental, because we believe that it brings many values, because it does society good, and because it is a very relevant offer in our business model,” said the executive of the Spanish ‘teleco’ for whom to collaborate with the initiative de Casillas allows you to have “specialists in the world of sports” to invest in technology companies.
The former goalkeeper for the Spanish national team, Real Madrid and Porto has reported that he approached the world of technological entrepreneurship as a result of the heart attack he suffered when he was a player for the Portuguese team, which led him to meet Idoven, a company technology applied to cardiological health and the one that is currently an investor.
“Fortunately or unfortunately, almost three years ago I suffered a heart attack and as a result of that your head changes, it puts you back on a daily basis (…) That’s where everything came from, from Idoven, it’s a startup that started with me, is dedicated to controlling the heart,” said Casillas, who was “delighted” to have Telefónica as an ally.
