Arsenal and Manchester City are still in a tight battle for the title.
The battle for the English Premier League championship continues hotly. Championship contenders Arsenal and Manchester City both won their home matches convincingly today.
Manchester City’s Norwegian star Erling Haaland scored four goals as City beat Wolverhampton 5–1.
Haaland already scored three goals in the opening period, including two from penalty kicks. In the second period, Haaland scored one more and Julian Alvarez completed City’s fifth strike.
Arsenal beat Bournemouth 3–0. Arsenal completely dominated the first period and got the reward at the end of the period when Bukayo Saka shot the ball into the goal from the penalty kick.
The second half was more even, but Arsenal struck again. Leandro Trossard scored the home team’s second goal.
Bournemouth also got the ball in the goal, but the situation was before Arsenal’s goalkeeper David Raya was disturbed.
In extra time Declan Rice finished with the final numbers 3–0.
The position at the top remained unchanged. Arsenal are a point ahead but have one more game to play, giving City the edge. Arsenal have two games left, City three.
In the other matches of the day, the team fighting against relegation claimed an important victory over the sure-to-be-relegated Sheffield United with 3–1 goals. Nottingham are now three points ahead of Luton, who are below the relegation zone.
Newcastle beat Burnley 4–1. Burnley are second last in the league and are very likely to be relegated. Brentford and Fulham played a 0-0 draw.
