A gynecologist who has worked on Gotland was put on a three-year probationary period during the summer of 2023. Now the Inspectorate for Care and Care (Ivo) wants the gynecologist to be stripped of his medical license.

In Ivo’s report, which News24 taken note of, it appears that the doctor did not follow the requirements of the probationary period for continuing education and supervision. The man himself says that he has retired.
“When NN has failed to follow the probationary period plan, his identification as a doctor must be revoked. No special reasons for not withdrawing have emerged,” they write in the report.
The gynecologist was also responsible for the operation and performed abortions, despite the fact that the operation lacked permission to perform abortions.
“By deficient record documentation and by performing abortions without permission, NN has intentionally or negligently violated regulations that are of essential importance for patient safety”.

Already in the previous examination in the Health Care Accountability Board (HSAN), Ivo requested that the identification be revoked, mainly because the gynecologist was considered to have given incorrect hormone treatment to a number of women with menopausal symptoms.
The doctor claimed that the cases where women had been given estrogen alone contrary to national guidelines were carefully considered. HSAN found that the patients had not been exposed to serious risks, but that above all the documentation about the treatments and follow-ups was broken.
In the decision on probation, some other cases of inappropriate medication and treatment were also criticized.
