Top Gun: Maverick features incredible flying stunts and action scenes. However, this was not only mastered on a technical level, but also required a lot disciplined training on the part of the cast. Co-star Glen Powell gives a little behind-the-scenes insight in a new interview.
Powell embodies the young, ambitious and somewhat overconfident pilot Lt. Jake “Hangman” Seresin. Talking to Extra, he comes up with the hard workouts to speak. “The gyms were full day and night”he sums up looking back on the shooting.

Particularly frustrating was a scene that had to be shot a second time and thus the double time at the gym required.
We have [die Szene] filmed and then went out in the evening. There were milkshakes and tater tots. Everyone drank a beer. And then came Tom [Cruise] a week later and said, ‘Guys, we have to [die Szene] turn again. She wasn’t good enough.’ And then everyone was back in the gym day and night.

The driving force behind the training was Cruise. The action star is known for giving everything for his films and does not shy away from anyone physical effort return. Absolute dedication is also expected from his colleagues. “When Tom raises the bar, you have to keep up with him”Powell comments.
Filming Top Gun: Maverick definitely got the aspiring actor pushed to its limits. Powell has many exciting stories to tell from the set. However, he also admits: “I wish my top gun experience had been totally barf-free, but that would be a lie.”
Top Gun: Maverick has been streaming since December 22, 2022 at Paramount+.
