A mass text message is said to have gone out to criminals with the message not to give in to relatives, according to information to SVT. Therefore, there is currently a type of truce in one of the worst gang conflicts in Stockholm – a truce that Leif GW Persson believes will be short-lived.
– It is probably a rather fragile truce considering who is involved, he says.
The conflict between the Valley Network fronted by “Greken” and “Kurdish Räven” with the criminal group Foxtrot has been driving the wave of violence that hit the capital at the beginning of the year.
During a time of escalation, both shootings and explosions were carried out against addresses linked to the gang members’ relatives. Therefore, a mass text message has been sent out to criminals in the Dalen network urging the recipient not to commit crimes against relatives, according to information to SVT.
Something that can have a positive, albeit short-lived, effect on violence, according to GW.
– That kind of thing has been done in the past. The most famous example is during the great Nordic mc war that went on from January -94 to September -97, between Hells angles and Bandios. 12 people were murdered, 11 had something to do with it, the 12th was in the wrong place at the wrong time, he says and continues:
– Then they made a truce and it was relatively effective. It was handled according to normal negotiation methods, it was lawyers who settled the whole thing, he says.
However, he does not believe that this truce has as good a chance of being maintained.
– It is relatively fragile and will not affect the situation in other cities such as Malmö and Gothenburg because there are other networks involved. But if you follow it in Stockholm, it can have some positive effects, he says and continues:
– Plus it can have effects in certain areas north of Stockholm.

The conflict is based on competition for the drug market and according to GW, the latest development is based on purely business grounds.
– You have realized that it is bad for business, it is simply bad for business that you target relatives and even completely innocent people who are affected. It probably wants to get rid of it, so that you can concentrate on the opponent, he says.
– But there is no truce, it is worth emphasizing.
