Guy kills 583 NPCs in Baldur’s Gate 3, stuffs them in a teddy bear, spares the dog: “I have principles”

The role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3 (Steam) gives the player extreme freedom. A reddit user uses this freedom to pursue his penchant for mass murder. He has killed 583 NPCs and mobs, but even he has principles and knows his limits.

What is the player doing there?

  • The reddit user “caufenkamp” has set himself the goal of creating a collection of NPC corpses in Baldur’s Gate 3.
  • As he shows in a reddit post, he has stacked all possible NPCs from Act 1 and 2 in a camp and sorted them by genre. He presents them as “Acts 1 and 2 complete. My sacrifices so far.”
  • He has the 583 corpses sorted into stacks by species in the screenshot, but when he’s not unfolding and stacking them, he keeps them in what he writes as a “teddy bear” container.

Here’s how the player does it: Any mob or NPC the player kills will be brought back to their base. He gives the tip that you can just click on the corpse and send it to the camp.

For “extremely heavy” bodies that cannot be lifted despite a high Strength stat, he uses the Druid’s bear form to bypass the limitation.

Of course, Caufenkamp plays the origin “The Dark Urge”, which tempts players to commit crimes anyway.

A child’s teddy bear serves as a container

That’s what’s particularly bizarre: The player says: He stows the corpses in a “stuffed teddy bear”, which acts as a box (via bg3.wiki). The container can be found in Act 1, it contains a note that reads: “Always hold it when you miss Mommy, honey. And don’t leave the camp. I’ll be back soon”

When asked that it’s pretty crazy to hide so many bodies in a bear that was probably dropped by a little kid whose village was destroyed, the player says, “At least the teddy bear has a useful use.”

However, even this player has his limits. When asked that there was no dog among all the mountains of corpses, he announced: “No, not even an owl bear cub. Even I have my principles.”

Is there a problem with the gameplay? Yes, the player says: For one thing, that’s not all the NPCs he’s killed. Some just disappear.

On the other hand, the piles of corpses now cause a considerable lag. When he has unpacked all the victims, Baldur’s Gate 3 becomes a slide show. If he finds any more victims in Act 3, the game would surely crash.
