Gustaf Lagerbielke scored the first national team goal despite a tough shirt pull

Watch Lagerbielke’s first national team goal in the player above.

– It was really fun, the first real match with the A national team and to score a goal. It was a childhood dream, says Lagerbielke.

With 20 minutes to go, Lagerbielke was pulled down, a reverse tackle, and the referee blew a penalty. Robin Quaison hit it in the middle of the goal and Moldova goalkeeper Dorian Railean saved. After a few bounces, the ball went out to Jesper Karlsson, who scored his second goal, 3-1.

After barely ten minutes, Sweden took the lead after an initiative by Karlsson. After nice combinations, the ball went to Linus Wahlqvist Egnell on the right wing. He played it in to Karlsson, who went straight to make it 1-0.

“Satisfied even if it is not a world nation”

Ten minutes later, Karlsson hit a corner that Lagerbielke, despite being pulled hard by the shirt, managed to jump up and head in for 2-0.

Just before the break, Moldova reduced the lead to 2-1. After a corner, the ball went to Ion Nicolaescu who clipped the ball in behind Kristoffer Nordfeldt.

– Overall, I am satisfied that we are winning even if it is not a world nation, but at the same time they are noisy, difficult and difficult to face, says the national team captain Janne Andersson.

The crowd of 10,097 is the lowest for the men’s national team at home (pandemic excluded) since 2018 when 9,876 watched the match against Slovakia.

On Monday, Sweden meets Belgium in Brussels in the European Championship qualifiers, then with a completely different team.
