93-year-old Gunvor Andersson escaped without injuries or smoke damage after the violent fire in her apartment building in central Stockholm on Sunday.
She lives at the top of the seventh floor, but was at the bottom of the laundry room in the basement when a neighbor told her that there was a fire on the ground floor.
“Coming in the middle of the smoke”
– I went to the lift and thought about going up – but there was no lift. Then I thought: if it’s on fire, I don’t dare go up the stairs because then I’ll end up in the middle of the smoke. So I went into the laundry room and closed the door quickly.
