Actor Alec Baldwin is also facing manslaughter charges for the Rust movie death.
A jury in New Mexico, USA, has found the gun master from the western movie Rust By Hannah Gutierrez-Reed guilty of manslaughter. Hollywood actress Alec Baldwin the film’s cinematographer died in the film he was starring in Halyna Hutchins. Baldwin fired the gun at Hutchins, thinking the gun was missing the correct cartridges.
Among other things, the trial dealt with whether Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was quite inexperienced at the time of the incident, endangered the members of the film’s work team in the way she handled and supervised the firearms used on the set.
One of the detectives who investigated the case testified at the trial that circumstantial evidence suggested that Gutierrez-Reed unknowingly brought heavy contributions from the production of another film to the filming of Rust.
Gutierrez, 26, faces up to 18 months in prison for the case. He is scheduled to be sentenced next month.
The film’s director was also injured in the tragedy that happened in October 2021 Joel Souza.
Also an actor Alec Baldwin is accused of wrongful death in the case. Baldwin will answer in an upcoming trial whether he used the firearm negligently or without due care. Baldwin has denied the charges.
The case has raised a wide debate in Hollywood and demands that there should be more detailed laws and policies regarding the handling of weapons in connection with filming. At the same time, the security control of Rust’s filming has been criticized for not being monitored in the right way.
