Guns drugs among 15M worth of items seized by police

Three people face charges in Project Reunion

Multiple firearms and more than 10 kilograms of drugs were seized on Six Nations and surrounding area Thursday.

Six Nations police said a nine-month investigation labeled Project Reunion resulted in the arrests of three Brantford people and seizures of more than $1.5 million in drugs, guns, currency and jewelry.

The 15 search warrants that were executed simultaneously with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police and Brantford Police resulted in major seizures from two Brantford homes.

Police took 18 guns and ammunition, $200,000 in jewelry, half a kilogram of fentanyl, six kilos of methamphetamine and four kilos of cocaine.

They also seized a “large quantity” of prescription drugs, including hydromorphone, oxycodone and alprazolam, and $86,000 in Canadian money.

Three people were arrested and held in custody. Six Nations Police said they expect to lay additional charges against others as the investigation continues.

Justin Wayne Allen Aumell, 31, and Shanna Julieanna Vanevery, 29, have both been charged with possession of cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, hydromorphone and alprazolam for trafficking, possession of oxycodone, 18 counts of possession of a firearm and other weapon offences, possession of stolen property and possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000.

Aumell also was charged with failing to comply with a release order.

Catherine Lowes, 59, was charged with 19 firearm offences, possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine for trafficking.
