Gunilla Persson’s Mello debut was threatened with a lawsuit – now it is being moved

Gunilla Perssons Mello debut was threatened with a lawsuit

The Hollywood wife Gunilla Persson, 65, has a lot of balls in the air right now. She lives in Los Angeles but will be in Sweden in the spring to participate in the Melodifestivalen. In addition to the competition, she also has a trial coming up. The case is against the website Stoppa Pressarna and the trial would actually clash with the Mello preparations.

The site’s claim about the Hollywood wife: “At risk of arrest”

The Express who read Stoppa pressarna’s article writes that the background to the case is that the site wrote an article about a trip to Sweden that Gunilla Persson was supposed to make in the summer of 2021, but which was cancelled. The site then wrote that the TV profile “risked being arrested by the police at Arlanda” due to a previous benefit fraud against the Social Insurance Agency.

The case against Försäkringskassan has been passed on to the Swedish Crown Attorney, where it is still relevant, which News24 have previously reported on.

This led to her reporting the site for defamation in September 2021 and then demanded damages of SEK 500,000.

– We are of the firm opinion that the majority of Stoppa Pressarna’s articles that deal with my client constitute defamation as the articles identify my client as criminal or reprehensible in his way of life, says her lawyer Mark Safaryan to Expressen.

The trial is moved forward

On Saturday 17 February, Gunilla Persson will compete in the Melodifestivalen with her entry “I won’t shake (la la Gunilla)”. But it would be tough to catch up with the rehearsals before the competition as the trial would be on February 14, just three days before the competition.

But now the trial has been postponed due to one person involved being on sick leave.

“The planned hearing on February 14, 2024 has been canceled and no new date has yet been set for the main hearing,” writes an administrator at the Stockholm District Court in an email to The Express.
