Our Swedish ski ladies have had great success in the WC.
The heroes have already won a total of nine medals in Planica.
Which makes the Swedish legend Gunde Svan give everyone a crazy tribute.
So far, the Skiing WC 2023 in Planica has been one big medal party for our Swedish ski ladies. On the men’s side, there hasn’t been a single medal yet, but our blue and yellow ladies have won a total of nine WC medals so far.
Blue-yellow WC success
Where Jonna Sundling has won double gold in sprints and Emma Ribom and Ebba Andersson each have their WC gold in Slovenia. This means that Sundling has the opportunity to reach himself Gunde Swan like the best ever.

The great pride of Swedish skiing Gunde won at most three WC gold medals in one and the same championship. Now it can be touched in Planica and there is no one who hopes for it more than Svan himself.

Gunde Svan proud
Because he is so incredibly proud of this Swedish national ski team and above all the women’s fantastic performance with nine World Cup medals won.
– It is impossible to be anything other than extremely impressed. What a breadth we have on the women’s side, it’s absolutely incredible! It’s so much fun to follow and see this joy in their eyes when they get it done. And that they can deliver even though they have a favorite character on them. – You have been in those situations where everyone expects you to take that gold and then you have to do it on that exact day – and still get it. Oh, that’s impressive!, says a proud Gunde Svan to the TV channel.
– They have a fantastic base to stand on, they must have that. On the team sprinter, they don’t even have the best material, but it still works. They ride with such security. Something like the release of the skis is not as it should be, but I know I still have it, to be able to think that thought. That you don’t feel: “Nah, now it’s over!”

Now Gunde Svan is keeping his fingers crossed that one of the skaters succeeds in reaching a historic three World Cup golds, and the only one who can do it is Jonna Sundling. Even if there is a chance, the chances are probably quite small that the sprint queen will win the third gold in the closing three miles on Saturday.
– Yes, they are very welcome to do so! I’m happy to share it if that’s the case. I didn’t even realize that it was as you say, he says with a laugh in the interview.
