Gunde Svan is one of Swedish sports’ greatest.
And he is known to be close to his feelings.
Which is exactly what happens when he bursts into tears during the TV4 program “Renée’s bridge”.
There are few skiers who can measure up Gunde Tail impressive track record. He is one of our greatest skiing heroes of all time with an incredible seven World Cup golds and four Olympic golds during his successful career.
Svan’s family
After he put his boots on the shelf, Gunde stepped straight over to the TV box and turned into one of our most popular presenters for many years. But above all, his life after his skiing career has been characterized by his children Julia Swan and Ferry Swan.

Today, father Svan stays active with son Ferry via their joint Instagram account, where we get to follow their everyday life and crazy antics. Family means a lot to Gunde.
– The important thing has still been to be a parent, I feel. Although we have such grown-up children, he says in the TV4 program “Renées brygga”, which premieres tonight.
Gunde’s tears
The former skiing king is extremely touched when he opens up about how much the children mean to him. And tears are always close for Gunde Svan, who is known for living close to his emotions.
– It already started when we had children – that I have tears very, very easily. It was enough for them to do something at school and I could start crying. It definitely came with the kids, he admits in the TV show.

When the presenter Renee Nyberg then puts his arm on Svan’s shoulder and he bursts into tears. She asks what he wants to leave behind and then even more tears come when he starts thinking about his great role model in life, his grandfather.
– He meant…, he says and wipes his tears.
– He was the role model for me that I want to be for my children.

Then Nyberg comforts him and says a few well-chosen words.
