Serneke Sweden files for bankruptcy
The construction and property company Serneke Sverige AB has filed for bankruptcy at the Gothenburg District Court.
The company was acquired last year by the German holding company Mutares, which hoped to secure Serneke Sweden’s position as a leading player in the contracting sector in Sweden.
However, the financial situation for Serneke Sweden has deteriorated significantly during the year and the company has not succeeded in securing the short-term liquidity required to continue operations.
“The problems that emerged during our investigations after we took over control of the company have been so significant that we unfortunately see no other solution than to file for Serneke Sweden’s bankruptcy,” says Serneke’s board chairman Miikka Suominen in a press release.

Climate activists are freed – occupied peat pits
22 climate activists are freed after occupying the Flymossen peat quarry in Bredaryd in Värnamo municipality in the summer of 2023.
The activists – who belong to the network Restore Wetlands – filled the ditches and pitched tents at the peat extraction site, among other things.
They were suspected of gross illegal trespass and damage. But the district court in Jönköping has rejected the prosecution because, according to the court, the penalty provision for illegal trespass cannot cover such a vast area as Flymossen.
According to the court, the defendants have also not been guilty of damage or any other criminal act covered by the indictment.
