Ambulance personnel had gone out to the outskirts of Södertälje during the night.
In connection with that, they were threatened by a man armed with a gun – who was arrested in a residence.
– We received an alarm about an armed man who had threatened ambulance personnel, says Mikael Pettersson, officer on duty at the police in the Stockholm region.
At three o’clock on the night of Sunday, an ambulance had gone out to an address in Södertälje due to a case of illness.
In connection with the paramedics being inside a property, they were threatened by a man who was armed with a gun.
– The ambulance was the first to arrive. In connection with their being there, a situation arises where a weapon is present. The ambulance staff thought it was nasty so they left and contacted us, says Mikael Pettersson.
Arrested at home
Exactly what happened inside the property is unclear.
– They perceived it as being threatened. Then how weapons were shown to them, whether it was pointed at them or what it was, I leave that unsaid. In any case, it ended with some reinforcements being brought there, says Mikael Pettersson.
The man, who is in his 50s, was arrested a few hours later, around six in the morning.
– When there are weapons involved, you take it carefully. In this case, it is a home where several people live, says Mikael Petterson.
He is suspected of aggravated unlawful threats and aggravated weapons offences. No people were physically injured in connection with the incident.
The police are ready at the scene.
