With the announcement of the current expansion Janthir Wilds, the developers of Guild Wars 2 promised to design a new PvP mode with the community. Now there are finally details.
What is planned for Guild Wars 2? When announcing Janthir Wilds, the developers at ArenaNet had already hinted that there would be a new PvP mode. Now the official presentation has followed!
In “Advance” you can expect battles between two 5-player teams in which you have to transport an object to the enemy base while preventing the enemy from reaching your base.
As early as September 10, 2024 (from 9:00 p.m.), interested parties can test the prototype of the map and give feedback to influence further development. The test is scheduled to run until September 23 at 2:00 a.m. The developers will present the new PvP mode to you for the first time on Twitch on September 6, from 9:00 p.m.
With “Forward”, ArenaNet wants to offer an accessible and as entertaining as possible PvP experience that newcomers and casual players can also enjoy (“casual alternative”). The goal is to get players interested in PvP in Guild Wars 2 so that they can then try out the other content.
What else was announced? The next round of the Tournament of Legends will start on September 21, 2024 (9:00 p.m.), and will take place every six months from now on.

Finally new fodder for PvP fans
What is the status quo of Guild Wars 2? Actually, there is a good mood in Tyria at the moment.
So everything is good in Tyria? Well, almost. Because “Advance” is actually the most exciting new feature for PvP fans in years.
Why is action needed? While PvE enthusiasts have been able to enjoy new content and challenges on a regular basis since the launch, fans of player-versus-player encounters have had to be patient for a long time.
A good example of this is the world versus world area. In February 2018, the developers announced a major overhaul of the game mode. Today, more than six years later, it is still in beta status.
Things are hardly any better with the other PvP content. There are new seasons, rewards and regular balancing adjustments and hotfixes, but there has been a lack of fresh content and modes for a long time. It is therefore important and right that ArenaNet is now providing new content with “Forward”.
Did you know that Guild Wars 2 can bring people together? In a special, MeinMMO editor Karsten Scholz revealed why he met his wife through a competition for Guild Wars 2: “My wife won me in a competition for Guild Wars 2” – as a consolation prize, so to speak.
