+ Latest WC and Olympics
2022: Olympics in Beijing: 1) Russia’s Olympic team, 2) Germany, 3) Sweden (Maja Dahlqvist, Ebba Andersson, Frida Karlsson, Jonna Sundling).
2021: WC in Oberstdorf: 1) Norway, 2) Russian Ski Federation team, 3) Finland.
+ Last fiasco – will Sweden get revenge?
The women’s relay at the WC 2021 Sweden would rather forget. For the first time since 2007, the women’s team missed out on a medal, and in fact was not even close. Sixth place – in what would be Charlotte Kalla’s final WC relay – was the worst relay result at a championship in many, many years.
+ Who are challenging for the gold?
Sweden has taken three out of four golds on the women’s side in Planica, and eight out of ten possible medals. The favoritism is therefore huge before the relay. That WC queen Jonna Sundling is poked says something about the strength of the team. There is still no lack of challengers. Norway, USA, Germany and Finland all have teams for the podium. Not least the USA, with a Jessie Diggins in great form, becomes a dangerous outsider.
+ Historically few Swedish victories
Sweden has actually only won three championship golds in women’s relay over the years. The latest came at the WC four years ago, when Stina Nilsson sprinted down Therese Johaug herself on the final stretch. In addition, there was Olympic gold in Sochi 2014 after a classic finish by Charlotte Kalla.
