The village used to have several pubs, but not since 2019, says Kees Rigter. That is a great loss, says the Eemnesser who has been campaigning for a new café for years. “We have over 9,000 inhabitants, but you can’t make a cup of coffee or get a beer anywhere. There is a group of people who are now just hanging out on the street, who have no place.”
