It was on 1 November last year that the police, due to the increased terror threat level, made the decision to introduce a total bag ban at major events in Sweden.
– The decision has been made against the background of the increase in the terrorist threat level, with the aim of increasing security. It is a concrete measure that will limit the possibilities of bringing objects that could pose a danger to people visiting an event, stated Per Engströmsection head for coordination at the National Operational Department, i a press release then.

The bag ban first applied to all of Gröna Lund
In mid-May, it was clear that, as a result of the police’s decision, there would be a ban on bags in Gröna Lund during the summer. The ban would then apply to the entire area of the amusement park during the days when concerts are organized on the big stage, which they also informed about on social media.

But two weeks later, the guidelines for visitors were changed.
“Previously, the bag ban affected all guests in the entire park, all day at concerts on the Stora Scen. Now we are GLAD to announce that we will create a demarcated concert area in front of the Stora Scen, which means that the bag ban will only apply there!”, the amusement park wrote in a post on Facebook then.

Gröna Lund therefore changed the directives
How come this change is made after two weeks?
– We haven’t had time really, for how we can do this in an accurate way from the beginning. The announcement about this came quite close to the opening of Gröna Lund, so from the beginning we had to make sure that everyone, even funfair visitors, who passed through the entrances during Stora scen concert days were affected by the bag ban, says Annika Troseliusinformation manager at Gröna Lund and Park and resorts, to News24.

In connection with the first directives regarding the bag ban, it was also stated that gym bags would be sold in the amusement park for SEK 30, which could be used in the area. Since the new directives came out, there have been many questions on social media, and a recurring one has concerned the gym bag.
On Facebook, the amusement park stated to a visitor that gym bags can be taken into the concert area – something that later turned out to be incorrect.

When Nyheter24 asks Annika Troselius what applies – whether you can bring the gym bags into the area in front of the Stora scen or not – she answers:
– Actually, the gym bag was mainly intended for the regular fairgoers who were covered by this ban when it applied to the whole of Gröna Lund. There is a greater need for guests who come with their children and will be there all day.
So you can’t take the gym bags into the concert?
– No, exactly, now there is a total ban on bags in the concert area and it applies from two hours before the start of the concert.
