The work on Kanaalstraat and Damstraat is still in full swing, including the sewer system being replaced. And at the same time the area is being redeveloped. Kanaalstraat is described by many Utrecht residents as a pleasant mess, where not everyone pays close attention to the traffic rules. Alderman Lot van Hooijdonk of GroenLinks also confirms this. “We know that it used to be complicated to comply with traffic rules in Kanaalstraat. We know that (compliance with the traffic rules, ed.) during the work was complicated,” Van Hooijdonk said in the council. By this she meant unorthodox traffic signs to get road users to comply with the rules. “Every reason to pay close attention to that.”
