Groenewegen won the first two stages in Slovenia and was therefore still in the lead after three stages. He has to give up the leader’s jersey to his Italian teammate Filippo Zana, who finished second in the mountain stage to Kobarid. The stage was won by the Colombian Jesús David Peña, another Groenewegen teammate.
