Food prices in the stores continue to shine, and households’ grocery bags only become more expensive and more expensive. And now thousands of Swedes have had enough. In recent weeks, clips have been spread at TikTok where consumers are encouraged to boycott the country’s largest food chains during week 12.
Next week, Swedes are expected to participate in a boycott of the big food chains ICA, Coop and Axfood – which owns Hemköp and Willys. This is in protest of the high food prices, which in recent years have increased significantly.
It all started with a Tiktok video that Annika Morina published, and then the initiative gained a lot of momentum, something she has told about in Today’s News.
– I hope this creates a debate and that food prices are lowered. That the food chains realize that people have had enough. We go on our knees and eating food is a right – no luxury, Annika Morina told the newspaper.
News24 Got out on the town and asked some Stockholmers what they think about the upcoming boycott. Hear more in the clip above.
