Netflix horror features a villain like you’ve never seen before
The premise of the film actually sounds rather tragic and banal: After the violent death of a friend, a group of friends led by Luke (Rafe Spall) go on a hiking trip together. The trip through the vast forest areas of northern Sweden is from the start overshadowed by the gruesome death.

But after an accident, they realize that they are not alone on their trip through the green: something sinister is creeping around them leaves his bloodthirsty traces in the forest. Luke and his friends are plagued by terrible nightmares. And then evil finally reveals its monstrous face.
Up to this point, The Ritual has already built up a brilliant arc of suspense, which is fed by the psychology of its characters and a wonderfully eerie staging of the landscape: the horror first rises subtly from the underlying hatred of the traveling group and then takes over one of the most unusual monsters in the horror genre his disturbing expression.
