Greta Thunberg is put on trial.
After a climate demonstration in Malmö, the police had to lift her and several demonstrators away.
Now she is being prosecuted, Sydsvenskan reports.
Climate activists from “Take back the future!” prevented several cars and trucks from leaving the harbor in Malmö during a demonstration in June.
Greta Thunberg sat among the activists.
Charged with crime
When the police ordered her to move and give way to the traffic – she refused. Several demonstrators had to be lifted away by the police, including Greta Thunberg. Now she is charged with disobedience to law enforcement, Sydsvenskan reports.
In a Instagram posts she herself defended her actions at the demonstration.
“We chose not to be passive spectators, but instead to obstruct the fossil fuel infrastructure. We are taking back the future,” it says.
The hearing is planned to take place in Malmö district court at the end of July, the newspaper writes. She has been refused assistance by a public defender – and is therefore expected to be able to defend herself, writes Sydsvenskan.
Disobedience to law enforcement results in a fine or imprisonment for a maximum of six months.
