Greta Thunberg blocked the Riksdag – sentenced to daily fines

On several occasions in March, Greta Thunberg blocked the Riksdag.
Now she is sentenced to daily fines – for the third time.
– I can understand it on a technical level, but on a moral level I don’t understand how you can justify this system, she tells TV4 Nyheterna.

On March 12, Greta Thunberg and other activists positioned themselves outside the entrance to the Riksdag in connection with a climate action. The police asked the group several times to move, but were finally forced to lift Thunberg and six other people away.

On March 14, the events repeated themselves.

Now Greta Thunberg, despite her denial, is sentenced to 120 daily fines of 50 kroner after a trial in the Stockholm district court.

This is the second time she has been sentenced for the same crime.

“absurd”

Greta Thunberg describes it as “absurd” that it is young, peaceful activists who are convicted of crimes, instead of the “real criminals”.

– It is yet another sign that our laws protect the wrong things. In my opinion, the laws should protect people and the planet and our long-term well-being and safety, she tells TV4 Nyheterna.

She believes that today we have a system that is instead well-adjusted to large and destructive industries.

– They must continue to expose countless people to direct danger as a result of their actions, she says to the media gathering outside the courtroom.
