More than 600 Swedish children and young people are suing through the organization Aurora, the Swedish state reports Today’s news.
The background to the lawsuit, which has been prepared for two years and is being submitted on Friday, is that the young people believe that the Swedish climate policy is illegal.
– If the state’s climate measures fail now, they threaten our human rights in the future. It is a legal obligation for which the state can be legally held accountable. That’s why we’re suing them, says law student Ida Edling to the newspaper.
She has been involved in drawing up the lawsuit. Another person behind the initiative is the climate activist Greta Thunberg.
